Frequently Asked Questions
How much do you pay?
We pay the highest amount for your items in cash. Each item is appraised by our buyer and he will give you a quote.
Do you take watches?
Yes, but only genuine Cartier and Rolex watches.
I live outside of the GTA how do I sell you my stuff?
Please contact us and we will gladly assist you.
What do you want to know about my item?
Please be as descriptive as possible. Such as weight and carat. If you do not know we will test it ourselves anyway.
I have had an appraisal done already on my item, will you pay me the same amount?
We pay the wholesale value for your items, not the ticketed price, invoice or appraisal value as given to you by the original jewellery store or insurance company.
Generally the appraisal done is a real measurement of its value which could represent the 50% to 60% of its ticketed price.
Sometimes we could even pay a higher amount. Our policy is too appraise the item ourselves in front of the customer. We test each item and give fair market value.
An appraisal can very depending on its date, as the prices for commodities varies every day.
Why is my offer less than what i bought it for?
The reason for this is that the store includes its costs such as rent, advertising, insurance and profit. Another reason for a low appraisal could be a low quality diamond which stores use for an uneducated consumer to pay for a premium on the price.
Why is my offer less than what my insurance company says its worth?
As mentioned below a insurance appraisal is only worth the paper its written on and does not include current market prices and exchange rates.
How do I find out what karat my gold is?
Look for Hallmarks: Hallmarks are stamped imprints on the jewellery that indicate Karat; they typically are stamped on the inside of rings and on inconspicuous surfaces, such as the clasps of chains or earring backs. A "GF" hallmark indicates gold-filled which is very low value. Items will still need to be acid tested to determine true karat as most items are stamped for display purposes only.
What if I'm not sure if something is gold or simply gold plated?
Costume jewellery is frequently gold plated and is very low value. A simple way to test whether a piece is plated is to scratch it a few times with an emery board and put a drop or two of white vinegar on the surface. If it turns color it's plated.
My item comes with an insurance appraisal, will you pay me that amount?
Generally appraisals are for insurance purposes and are at a higher amount than what the true value of your item is. We pay at current value prices for example diamonds are traded in US dollars as the Canadian dollar is worth more the value of your diamond is less. Insurance companies will pay your for sentimental and loss purposes only. We will always appraise the item in front of you and to your benefit while giving you a honest and fair offer for your item.
Can I have my item back after i sold it to you?
No, all purchases are final and there are no returns. All gold items are melted the next day. We buy gold for scrap and not resale.
